MFF 2021 Wrapup

In these unprecedented times…

No, wait.

We’re all really tired of hearing that.

Anyway, it’s been a rough two years for everyone. After going virtual in 2020, we at Midwest FurFest approached the 2021 convention with a mixture of hope and trepidation. Our goal was to provide something of a respite for all of our friends and to continue to celebrate the furry fandom in FurFest’s own unique style but in a manner that was safe and responsible as well.

It is a pleasure to say that we achieved all of this and more, as we welcomed a grand total of 9,332 (vaccinated and masked) attendees. We are grateful not only for all of our friends who journeyed to Rosemont to join us, but also for the approximately 450 staff and volunteers (working onsite and remote) who helped make the convention happen.

Our charity this year was Mission Companion Paw (MCP) Rescue + Outreach. Through the generosity of our attendees, we were able to raise $74,303. These donations will help them continue their work of finding homes for hard-to-adopt dogs, providing pet food donations to food pantries, and directing families to low-cost spay and neuter services.

We would like to recognize everyone who organized and participated in the following events which helped raise money for this charity:

  • Charity Table Jar: $7,335

  • Credit Card/Venmo Donations: $2,758

  • Charity and Silent Auctions: $5,344

  • Furry Logic Escape Room: $1,000

  • Donations from Programming Event: $2,760

  • Hyatt Regency O'Hare - Themed Drinks at Red Bar: $1,130

  • Cash donations at Closing Ceremonies: $7,976 (WOW!)

Thanks again to everyone who made this possible. You have all made a tremendous difference in the lives of MCP and the people and animals that they serve.

After two years in orbit, Midwest FurFest 2021: Intergalactic! has finally landed. We are already hard at work making plans for the coming year and we hope to see you December 1-4, 2022 in Rosemont, Illinois!
