If your talent can entertain an audience for 30 minutes or more, we'd love to have you audition for one of our performance opportunities. If your talent is better matched to a short 3-4 minute performance, please consider the Furry Variety Show!

Performance Policies & Rules

All performance applications must undergo formal submission, review, and approval before the performance is included in the Midwest FurFest convention programming.

Performers MUST specify any requested equipment that we supply at the time of the performance application submission. Performers are required to provide all additional needed equipment. You will be notified what we are able to provide if your performance is approved. We will do our best to support your equipment requests.

Midwest FurFest does not provide the following:

  • Any sort of computer/laptop/tablets

  • Electronics outside of the projector/TV, sound system and microphones provided for each room

  • Any sort of cable needed to plug YOUR equipment into the technology we provide (projector, sound equipment, etc)

  • An internet connection. Internet connections cannot be purchased for any specific room. You will need to purchase a wireless connection through the hotel that your panel is being held in.

  • Pens, Markers, Pencils or Sharpeners, Paper, Sign Stands, or any other general office supplies. Panelists will need to provide these if they are required for their panel

All decisions regarding performance acceptance or denial of performance requests are made at the sole discretion of the Programming team. A performance may be denied with the exception that it can be re-considered if all management requested changes are made.

Performance applications will be considered on a first come first serve basis. Those who apply first have a greater chance of getting a performance slot and their requested date/time. After the October 6th deadline, applications will be put on a waitlist and will be considered only if we have space available.

A performance cannot charge attendees money. Performers may not sell anything during their performance including but not limited to merchandise or supplies. Any performance found participating in these or similar activities will be canceled and will not be allowed to return.

A performer may not pass out or consume ANY food or drink, store bought or home made. This includes, but is not limited to candy, chips/pretzels, alcohol, pocky, ramen, water, soda pop, tea and coffee.

Midwest FurFest prohibits the usage of derogatory terms, racism, hate-speech, or any content that could be considered hateful is strictly prohibited in any performance, event, or activity. We are dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees, promoting diversity and respect within our community.

18+ Performances

Any performance that is identified as adult in nature will be marked as 18+. All performers for 18+ performances must be 18 years of age or older on the day of the performance, no exceptions.

Attendees for 18+ performances must present a government issued ID showing that they are 18 years of age at the time of the panel. No attendee will be admitted to an 18+ panel without the government-issued ID.

Compensation Policy

At Midwest FurFest (MFF), we prioritize the spirit of volunteerism and community engagement. Therefore, we typically do not provide compensation for performers.

Compensation, if offered, will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the MFF programming team. Factors considered include the panel's unique value, performers’ qualifications, and any agreed-upon arrangements.
