Frequently Asked Questions
I
would like to register by mail. Is there a printable copy
of the registration form?
Sure! Just print out this
form and mail it along with a check made out to Midwest
FurFest by November 1, 2008.
What
is your registration fee structure?
Early discounted preregistration for a full membership
is $30 until September 30. Full memberships bought after
September 30 and at the door cost $40. Sponsorships are
$120 before the convention and at the door.
What
is a full membership?
A full membership includes admission to Midwest Furfest
for all three days (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and
a copy of our convention book.
What
is a sponsorship?
A sponsorship shows that, in the immortal words of Sally
Field, you like us, you really like us! In return for
your sponsorship, you will receive all of the benefits
of a full membership, as well as a free T-shirt (approximately
a $15 value), one print from each of our artist guests
of honor, a collectable cloisonne' pin, a special surprise
gift, AND a complimentary brunch with our guests of honor.
What a deal!
What
important deadlines do I need to know about?
November 1, 2008 - Last chance to mail
in registrations
November 16, 2008 - Last chance to register
online
I'm
only going to be able to attend for one day. Do I need
to pay for a full membership?
Nope. If you will only be attending for one day, there
is no need to preregister. Just come to Registration at
the convention and we will be happy to provide you with
a One-Day Membership. Prices for a One-Day Membership
are $15 for Friday, $25 for Saturday, and $15 for Sunday.
Single-day memberships
are available only at the door.
I
am under the age of 18 and I would like to attend the
convention without my parent or guardian. What should
I do?
If you are 16 or 17 years old and will be attending without
your parent or guardian, we require a notarized Parental
Permission Form to attend Midwest Furfest from your parent
or guardian. We apologize for the extra work, but unfortunate
incidents at other conventions have forced us to take
this measure. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied
by a parent or guardian. Children under the age of 16
who are not accompanied by a parent or guardian will not
be admitted to the convention.
My
child is under the age of 6 and thus is unable to partake
in any of the programming or events. Do I need to buy
a membership for them?
Children under the age of 6 accompanied by parent or guardian
will be admitted to the convention free of charge.
My
child is between the ages of 7 and 12. Do I need to buy
a membership for them?
Children between the ages of 7 and 12 accompanied by parent
or guardian will be admitted to the convention at half
price. Memberships for these children can only be purchased
at the door.
Where
should I mail my completed preregistration form?
Mail your completed pre-registration form to:
Midwest Furry Fandom
P.O. Box 508
Mount Prospect, IL 60056
To
whom should I make out my check?
Please make your check out to "Midwest Furfest".
I
am pre-registered. Why haven't I received confirmation
of my registration?
Confirmation post cards will be mailed out to all attendees
whether they preregister online or by mail. Confirmations
may take up to four to six weeks to process. If you have
sent in your registration and have not yet received confirmation,
please be patient. If it has been longer than six weeks,
send an email
here to inquiring about the status of your registration.
Note that if you registered online and your registration
is shown to be confirmed, you are in our database and
ready to go!
I
missed the pre-registration deadline. Does this mean I
can't attend the convention?
Oh, absolutely not! A large portion of our memberships
are sold at the door. All you have to do is come to Registration,
pay your membership fees, and off you go to have fun!
Although you won't get the nifty $10 preregistration discount,
we're still happy to welcome you to Midwest Furfest.
I
pre-registered for Midwest FurFest but now I find I am
unable to attend. Is it possible to get a refund?
We are happy to issue refunds up until pre-registration
closes (November 16, 2008). If you contact us between
November 16 and November 30, 2008, we can only roll your
membership over to Midwest FurFest 2009. After November
30, 2008, no credit or refund can be issued.
OK,
so I'm pre-registered. Now what?
Now you sit back and pat yourself on the back. Not only
did you save $10 by pre-registering, but you saved yourself
precious time at the convention. Your confirmation postcard
will arrive in the mail within four to six weeks. Remember
that this is for your files only - you will not need the
postcard at Registration. Whether you pre-registered or
registering at the door, you must present photo ID to
pick up your badge.
When
will Registration be open? Where will Registration be
located?
Plans for Registration are still being developed. Check
back here as the convention draws closer for detailed
information on hours and location.
I
am known by six different names on various mucks/channels/chats.
Can I get six badges?
Sorry, no. For security reasons, we can only issue one
badge per person. Many of the artists in attendance will
be happy to create as many badges for you as you like
- we urge you to visit them in the Artists' Den and the
Dealers' Room.
Do
you have questions that weren't answered here? Email
