Both
Greyhound and
Megabus run bus service
to downtown Chicago. From downtown Chicago, the best way to
get to the Hyatt Regency Woodfield unassisted is a combination
of the Blue
Line elevated train (the "El") and the Pace
Bus System. The Chicago
Transit Authority has a useful
website that will help you plan your itinerary.
In
general, you have three options:
- First,
take the Metra UP
Northwest train from the Ogilvie
Transportation Center at Madison and Canal Streets to
the Des
Plaines stop; the fare will be $3.45. At the Des Plaines
stop, transfer to a bus, Pace
Route 208 ($1.50 fare). The bus will take you to Woodfield
Mall, which is directly across Golf Road from the hotel.
- Your
second option is to take the Blue Line to the Rosemont
station (Adobe Acrobat Reader required) and from there ride
Pace
Route 606 (Northwest Limited). This is a faster trip
than the 208, but it runs less often. As above, the "H
trips" on the schedule stop right in front of the hotel.
- Your
third option works well if you have someone local or already
at the hotel who wouldn't mind picking you up. From Union
Station in downtown Chicago, take the Milwaukee
District West Line to the Medinah
station. This is near the corner of Medinah
Road and Irving Park Road in Medinah, and is about six
miles from the Hyatt Regency Woodfield. Once you are
there, you can either have a friend meet you or call one
of the taxi services listed above for a ride to the hotel
(unfortunately, this is outside of the radius that the hotel
shuttle will go). This route is HIGHLY recommended if you
are coming in around peak rush hour in the afternoon, as
it is all but guaranteed to be far faster than any driving
transportation. Keep an eye on the schedules, though, and
realize that they are geared towards people commuting into
Chicago. This means that in the mornings there are many
trains going into the city and relatively few coming from
the city, and the inverse is true in the evenings.
Which
of these options you choose depends on which works best with
your schedule. Fares will be $2.00 for the Blue Line, plus $0.25
for a transfer for the Pace bus.
