Charity
Auction
Every
year, Furfest's generous donors and attendees bring in thousands
for Chicagoland charities, and the animals they support.
Midwest
FurFest is pleased to announce their charity for 2007: Flint
Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation.
Based in Barrington, Illinois, FCWR operates facilities in Barrington
as well as on Northerly Island in downtown Chicago (site of
the former Meigs Field) to rehabilitate orphaned and injured
wildlife with the goal of returning the animals to their native
habitats. They support efforts to repopulate endangered and
threatened wildlife species and to promote respect for wildlife
and wildlife habitats through public education programs.
FCWR
was in the news earlier this year when they
helped return "Adrian", a coyote who wandered
into a downtown Chicago Quizno's Restaurant, back to the wild.
They maintain an
ongoing blog describing some of the challenges they face
and some of their success stories.
Representatives of FCWR will be attending Midwest FurFest accompanied
by some of their charges, and will be leading several panels
as well. Additionally, FCWR will received 100% of the proceeds
from this year's Charity Auction, as well as your generous donations
at their table outside the Regency Ballroom, and in the Con
Suite.
