Charity
Auction
How
to donate items:
If
you know ahead of time you will be donating an item or service
to the MFF 2007 Charity Auction, we would appreciate an email
from you stating what you are donating, your name, your preferred
email address if it's different, and details on the donation
(what it is, medium, artist/provider, preferred starting bid
- items usually start at $2 unless otherwise specified, etc.).
We will mark you down as a donor and record your donation.
Your
donation will be on display at the MFF Art Show until the Charity
Auction. Keep in mind, though, that the Art Show and Charity
Auction are two separate events. Items will be auctioned one
at a time. Once the convention is over, we will release a list
of articles and winning bids.
If
you are donating an item (artwork, sculpture, animation cel,
etc), it must be G-PG13 rated (R only with permission). You
may either bring it to MFF if you are attending or you may send
it to Brendan Dunn (Roho) via snailmail. He will provide you
with the address and will bring it to the convention.
The
item you donate, when delivered at the convention or by mail,
must contain a 3x5 card with pertinent information such as the
donor, artist, medium, preferred starting bid, and any other
important information a bidder should know so that the item
may be properly auctioned. This is mainly to benefit the auctioneer,
and so we know whom to thank! Cards will be made available at
the donation table.
If
you are donating a service, you must be 18 years or older and
have a legal, definable, service to offer (leatherwork, plush
design, costume production, etc). If the service requires it,
we will need to see a certificate stating that you have trained
for such. All services will be reviewed before being accepted.
You must be present at MFF to auction your service.
If
you plan to send an item by mail, we must receive it not less
than one full week before the convention (no later than November
11, 2007). Any donations that fail to make it in time for MFF
will be returned unsold.
If
you plan to bring your donation to the convention in person,
we will organize a location to drop off Charity Auction items,
hopefully near registration or the Art Show. You may also give
them to the Auction Director personally.
We
will keep in touch by email with donors who have promised items
for auction, alerting you of any deadlines, changes or updates.
In exchange, please keep us up to date on the status of your
donation - we want to keep accurate records of all the items
up for bid in advance of the event itself.
Thank
you for your donation! If you have any questions whatsoever,
don't hesitate to contact Roho,
auction director!
