Art Show Display Rules
The Midwest FurFest Art Show is intended to be an opportunity for artists to exhibit and sell original artwork that is of a fantasy, science fiction or fannish nature, especially with an emphasis on anthropomorphic animals. Please read the following rules carefully before you sign and return your Art Show reservation form. Deadline for reservations is September 20th, 2006.

Display Information and Pricing

  1. All art will be displayed on half-panels, 4' tall and 2' wide. THESE PANELS ARE SMALLER THAN TRADITIONAL PANELS. Full 4' by 4' spaces will be available on request. Half-tables will be available for artwork of a 3-dimensional nature. These are 3 foot by 30 inch spaces.

  2. Prices for space are as follows:

    2'x4' half-panels(general): $3
    2'x4' half-panels(adult): $3
    4'x3' half-table(general): $3

  3. There is a limit of 5 mail-in artists. If you will be mailing your art in, we will contact you back after receiving your reservation. We want to know how you want your packages (if any) returned including insurance, receipt confirmation and class/shipment company. Nothing will be automatic anymore. Your art will no longer necessarily be hung first. We will be taking a $10 fee up front as a deposit towards shipping and services, but if you want to leave us with more than $10 to work with, please do so. Any shortfalls will be automatically deducted from your take. Any additional funds will be either added to your take or cut on a separate check and delivered in the box with your merchandise. If you do NOT provide us with funds or fail to contact us about return shipping, the convention will take ownership of the merchandise.

  4. A commission fee of 10% will be subtracted from all sales. Taxes are taken from the buyers and processed to the Illinois Department of Revenue.

  5. Initally, up to 5 half-panels and 2 half-tables may be reserved. Of the 5 half-panels, a maximum of 2 may be in the adult section. Please indicate this on the application. If you desire more space, you will be put on a waiting list. We offer extra space before the convention and have received a very positive response.

  6. Display space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. This will be determined by postmark date. A waiting list will be kept if space runs out.

  7. If you plan to have an agent handle your art for you, you must provide a signed letter of agency to the Midwest FurFest Art Show staff at the time of check-in.

Artwork Rules

  1. ALL ART should be appropriately matted and ready to be hung. Artwork will be hung with clips attached to the pegboard panels. These will be provided by the convention, if you choose to use them.

  2. All items MUST be labeled with the artist's name, address, and the title of the item on the back. This is for your own protection as there is no guarantee that the bid sheet will remain with the piece.

  3. Artists will be provided with bid sheets for each item, and a master control sheet for all items submitted. All bid sheets must contain the following information:

    *Artist Name
    *Item Title
    *Media Used
    *Minimum Bid
    *Sunday Sale Price

  4. If you wish to opt out of the Sunday sale, you MUST write "NFS" (Not For Sale) in place of a number. If the Sunday sale price is missing, the Sunday sale price is the minimum bid.

  5. Work without proper paperwork will not be displayed.

  6. Once entered in the Art Show, items cannot be withdrawn from the Art Show.

  7. No insurance coverage is provided for art entered into the Art Show. We will make every effort to provide security and protection for your art, but the Midwest FurFest Art Show is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged art.

Adult Art

  1. The art show will have two areas: General and Adult. The Adult area will be screened off and monitored. There is no table space in the Adult area.

  2. Art MUST NOT be displayed in the General section if it displays any of the following criteria:

    * Exposed genitalia. Genitalia is defined as female nipples and any detailing/definition of male and female groin areas.
    *Hidden or covered erections
    *Any depiction of sexual acts
    *Full frontal nudity
    *Excessive violence or bloodshed

  3. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES may the following subjects be displayed:

*Depiction of sex acts involving children, or beings that appear to be children
*Depiction of sex acts involving humans or human-like beings, with non-anthropomorphic animals.

  4. Borderline cases may be displayed in the General section. Bare breasts are allowed, but nipples and areolas must be covered (Appropriate coverings include stickers, post-it's, opaque tape, etc.) Bare buttocks may be shown if there are no visible genitalia.

  5. Due to display space restrictions, the Adult section will be limited to two 2'x4' half-panels per artist. Please indicate on your application form if you wish to buy half-panels in the adult section. If wish to have additional space, you may request it on the Reservation form and be put on the waiting list.

    Display Art Sales
  1. Artwork that receives 4 or more bids by the close of the Art Show on Saturday night will go to auction. Art that receives 3 or fewer bids will be sold to the highest bid on the sheet. Any bid beyond the fourth will be ignored. Any bid of a partial dollar amount will be ignored.

  2. Art that receives no bids by the close of bidding Saturday will be available for purchase Sunday morning during art pick-up hours (if not marked NFS "Not for Sale.") The Sunday sale price will be used for this purpose. In the absence of a Sunday sale price, the minimum bid price will be used.

  3. Reproduction rights are not included with art sales, unless the artist indicates otherwise.
Reserving Your Space
You need to fill out and send in the Art Show Reservation Form in order to reserve your spot in the Art Show. If you do not claim your panel space by Saturday morning (or make prior arrangements with the Director) it will be sold to the waiting list so as to make full use of the space available.
